What kinds of window treatments can you hang when you have wood blinds?
Posted under Window TreatmentsI am trying to decorate my living room, specifically I am looking to add window treatments. I have wood blinds (medium oak color) and wood trim (same color). Everything else in the room is really neautral - all khaki. I am wondering what kinds of things I can do for window treatments. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Sounds like we have the same blinds. The wood is so beautiful you really shouldn’t cover it up. We put up simple valances in a neutral color ( close to khaki ) so when the blinds were open they were hidden and we had an open view. When they are closed you get the full effect of the wood. It would be a shame to hide it. It took us a few days to get used to just valances, but it works. Also it is cleaner. Less dust and less curtain cleaning.
We’ve done all kinds of things working around wood blinds. You can install cornice boxes above the window. You can put valances above them. You can do a combination of cornices with draperies at the side or valances with draperies at the sides. We’ve used plaster and metal pediments above the windows in very formal settings. We’ve had balloon or roman shades installed halfway across windows to give texture and dimension, too. Really, your options are endless. Check out the HGTV and DIY sites for even more ideas.

Do not put valances. Window scarf would be nice, especially short on one side and long on the other side. Make sure you get nice rods (iron) for your window.

XP Pro SP2 will do it for you. Sorry no suggestions!

You can use raw silk or indian linen. It’s a natural looking fiber that looks wonderful with the wood blinds. A nice deep red raw silk or a chocolate linen will be beautiful with just about any type of decor.

Valances, nice drapes, chooce a nice color to go with the wood. Alot of people seem to be just putting a rod and then draping fabric over it and down both sides of the window.
